Get them in big pots asap, before the weather gets to warm, keep them sheltered, and out of hot sun ideally.  We moved a lot of rhododendrons and azaleas with us, left behind masses of roses, the next owner dug out and threw the lot away!

    Hi,
I lugged my precious garden plants around for a number of years in pots and planting in different houses for about 6 years, until we found the house we wanted to buy.
So, I did the following.. water well (If your ground is cold and hard, don't bother with watering) dig up most of the root ball,( most plants don't mind a bit of root trimming, it activates the need for more roots actually) bag up in hessian, plant again as soon as is practicable.  I did this with Peonies, 5ft apple trees, silver birch etc all fine.  Though not the most ideal time of year as everything is coming into bud and the sap is rising, but the cold weather/snow may have slowed it down...your shout on this.  Transfer your bamboo to a pot anyway, should be more than happy.  Choisyia is tough as old boots, but cheap to buy anyway.  Cuttings are not readily available just yet from them. They have only been in 1 season, shouldn't be a problem at all :-)
After all we all constantly move plants around in the garden if they are not performing well, it is the same difference.
