Feeding an ornamental pear

We have a two year old pyrus calleryana "Chanticleer" in our garden, which has taken well and seems to be healthy.  I can't find advice anywhere in my books or online as to whether I should feed it, and if so, with what.  Would a decent mulch of garden compost be sufficient?

I should think that is sufficient. Continue to mulch generous layers every year or even twice a year.
