Palm tree advice

Purchased house last september. Has two palm trees planted in garden as per picture. Noticed that each tree has an 'odd tree growth' on top of each tree. Is this normal.? Should i leave these growths there? Also how should i care for the trees? Any advice appreciated...thanks in advance.

I reckon the odd growths are flowers forming.  There's some advice here form the RHS - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=609

Personally, I'd get rid.  They just look all wrong in a suburban setting - need a sea front, preferably a tropical beach to look right IMHO.

Just to add ; when warmer days arrive the older lower brown leaves can be peeled-off downwards . This just tidies them up for the summer ; they drop everywhere anyway .
  • Thanks to all for comments. Wife likes the plants so they are staying. At least I know now what they are and how to care for them.. thanks...
