Morning, Bitterly cold here and snow falling but I don't think it will stick (fingers crossed) treasures tucked up in greenhouse or on the dining table in the conservatory. We have frogspawn in the pond (Yay!) and I'm worried about it surviving the cold snap. Secondborn is coming over this afternoon, they had a scare with the pregnancy again, blood tests showed an extremely high probablility of downs so they paid to have a test that would confirm this. Luckily it has shown that the baby is fine. An offshoot of this is that they get to know the sex of the baby early so they are going to let us know whether we are going to get a grandson or a grandaughter at the beginning of September. We don't mind which just glad everything is OK.
Unsuprisingly the tree surgeon cancelled this morning and rebooked for a week on Monday. Have a good day everyone, whatever you are up to.
Hi all. Just got up, very late for me, but we have been trying to sort out what to do about trip. Heavy snow here, and blowing a gale. Sofa and rugby I think.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Not really any snow here ... just a sort of light dusting ... icing sugar effect ... it's blowing off the roofs in the wind ... OH says it's bitterly cold out there ... I'm afraid I wouldn't know

Well, I managed to clean about a third of the shade bed and plant a few bits in there - proper bluebells at the back and some carex thingies at the sunnier front edge. Found a few hostas starting to poke through and have ear-marked two of them for rescuing into pots as they didn't like it there in the drought last year.
I'd asked OH to go and weed the herb bed thinking there was no room for getting it wrong. Good job I checked tho. He was gaily tossing my precious fine white chives in the wheelbarrow. Duly rescued now. I've also cleaned and sharpened my secateurs ready for willow weaving tomorrow.
All clean now and scones made for later on. Typically, it is peeing down. Lovely for a garden visit - not. At least it's not snowing tho it will get very cold tonight.
Keep warm everyone and, for those with plans, I hope the snow doesn't mess things up.

Despite having been able to post on the Bare Root fruit bush thread after it rejected my attempts earlier it is now rejecting my efforts again ........... could someone explain to Clara what is meant by 'heeling in' ......

right , that's enough of the snow and the cold. I'm off to sit in the sitting room and watch QI and Last Leg from last night as Hubby is a fan of neither. He's home form the shop at 4
