I use my iPad to record my garden diary. All the work I carry out in my garden is entered on my iPad, including dates when plants were planted, potted up, moved, fed, pruned, divided etc. Personally, I find this easier that writing out a diary. I find this so important as its amasing how much work one does in their garden and I find recording dates gives me a good idea on general progress in my particular garden
I keep a diary on Microsoft Word. It's an interesting catalogue of my failures It's interesting to look back at previous years as the seasons never seem to start at the same time. Also I record how much I've spent (scary!), what's of interest that month, and what wildlife I have seen.
I also keep a monthly jobs list on Excel that I adapted from advice from the RSPB website and added to with advice from Gardening Magazines and the What to Do Now section of this website. That way I've got all the advice in one place.
I like keeping it on the laptop as I can add new advice without running out of space. Good luck with yours. I find it really helpful and good to look back on.
I do the same as @cloud8 - I have a diary in Word in which I record my day to day activities, an excel monthly list of tasks and also another spreadsheet in which I record what date I sow seeds and how long they take to germinate, crop plus comments on performance.
In addition to my garden diary I use an excel spreadsheet that lists all plant purchases, cost, were the company good, delivery on time etc and a second planner spreadsheet that identifies where they are planted and when they were planted, the planner spreadsheet has a second page that is a seed log to show when sown, germinated, potted on and planted out. I also have a sketch book that has garden plants in it that I can take into the garden when I'm working so I don't dig anything up etc. When you write it all down it sounds a touch obsessive (need that embarrassed emoji).
Every year I plan to keep a detailed record of what plants are bought, propagated, planted, etc. The entries are fairly regular for a month or two, then gradually get more intermittent until they peter out altogether as I end up becoming engrossed in what I'm doing in the garden as opposed to writing it down. I do take hundreds of photographs however! I admire all your organisational skills though - something I can only aspire to!
