Tree identification

Hi guys,
I have another tree solving problem I need some advice .
Can anyone identify the tree in the picture below? I am not familiar with this species. Apparently it starts with ‘g’....
Any help would be much appreciated.

Might be an idea to wait for some foliage?
I can only think of two trees that grow reliably here that starts wth a 'G'.
Gleditsia Triacanthos the Honey Locus which sometimes has thorns but not always. Leaves are quite similar to a Robinia. The other, Ginkgo Biloba, the Maindenhair tree. I can't say I notice what both look like in winter and there are loads of Ginkgo trees planted where I live. Very distinctive rubbery looking leaves that I think look nicer individually but looks clustered and tired when in leaf on a tree.
