I've used Jack's magic compost for many years. Works for sowing and potting on. Has a light open texture. Never had an issue with finding plastic is any compact I've used, not even garden centre own brands. I have found b&q multipurpose to be quite coarse but like Jenny j never found plastic.
I have used humax original for the last 2 years +/- Ji3 and it’s the best I’ve found so far. Seems better than GC MPC and has a good consistency / drainage. It’s retails at £15 for 3 x 60l bags.
Thanks for posting that list Lyn👍. Very interesting to see Lidl budget compost ranking so well. I've never used it before but want to cadge a lift to get some now.
I usually buy gardening stuff from the local Wilko as it's in walking distance. Disappointed with the texture of this seasons seed compost, a bit chunkier than I'd like with the fibrous lumps in it. I use it for the tiny seeds, it's like sowing dust 😬. Their MPC seems ok though, and I've not found any rubbish/plastic in either bag so far.
I asked them if they added green waste their reply: Thanks for your question. Westland do not use any green waste in any of its products.
To meet peat reduction targets we use West+ which is a sustainable source of wood fibre, it is consistent and contaminant free. There is no west+ in Jacks Magic but you will find it all of our other growing media.
I used some Sylva grow (Melcourt) last year for first time and really liked it but can’t remember which one- think it was sustainable growing medium. My local nursery stocks it but had run out last time I went.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Seed compost on the left, MPC on the right.
