I've got some red stemmed cornus albs which need pruning. Is there any point in trying to root the stems? I know hardwood cuttings are normally done in late autumn, but might it be worth a go?
They're growing on the 2 islands in our little lake. I've not been out there in the six years we've lived there. I fancy some nice clumps around the edge of the lake too.
I'll try to get some photos tomorrow, if the upload gremlins are sorted.
I've done water rooted and soil rooted from my spring trim Hosta. Water is more sure but soil rooting in a trench in shade works quite well too. I've also done layering but that's a longer process.
