Cats

I love wildlife and have made a hedgehog highway. I have always fed the birds and I had a dog until last year so I never got cats in my garden. But now I have cats in my garden and my birds are not so keen to visit.

How can I stop cats coming into my garden ?

I’m not ready for another dog.

Please help..

The most effective method seems to be the water scarecrow (google it). The problem may be it'll deter your hedgepigs too, unless you can site it somewhere that the cats trigger it but the hedgehogs don't.

Hostafan gets (a virtual) £1 every time someone asks the question, hence his comment above. It comes up lot. It's a real problem in some areas and there doesn't seem to be a universally effective solution, I'm afraid.

Diluted urine is the answer we have found to controlling cats in the garden, does deter them, doesn't need to be strong enough to cause an unwanted smell.
