I know the colour you are talking about @Dovefromabove it does look like a prison! We have a sample of it and tested it on the new fence to the right and current on the left. It blends in with concrete girders.
It makes sense about the black paint too. I'm desperate to cover the monster shed. Something fast growing.
I really love that colour @amberspy what did you use?
Used silver copse I did two coats to get that colour as felt one wasn’t enough noticed the B and M store has it for £10 for 5 L so quite good
I ddnt know you had been in prison Dove, obviously, too lae now, Hubby has laid it, but I frankly wouldnt have bothered with a lawn that size.My shed, (potting is black) fncied a sort of Japanese look, you want tohide it, its BIG compared to the size of your garden, grow stuff up it.We used Cuprinol Garden Shades and on the grandkids Tree house, it looks really runny but covers really well.Where are you going to put raised beds, we had sleepers in our last garden, yes expensive, and VERY heavy! Our raised veg beds are made from scaffolding boards cheap as chips, one board will make a nice sized bed.
My dad originally agreed with you and even wanted to astro turf it @Nanny Beach . I love a lawn however small. I absolutely hate the shed as it dominates the garden. Previous owners had it hooked up with electrics (a cowboy job) and it is rotting. It probably has two years at most.
We are hoping to grow some vegetables for my toddler even if it's potatoes in bags.
From the previous garden I've got three acers in pots, a black bamboo, which is looking rather sorry for itself as I bought it on sale and have yet to re-pot in something bigger. I also have an olive out the front. Lots of bulb in pots that are beginning to come through.
One of our pro garden chaps (might be @Paul B3 ) uses a lot of dark grey/charcoal for backgrounds. It looks fab in anything he has posted as it just disappears behind the planting. @Fairygirl used it to, or maybe even black, to great effect. Haven't seen her about for ages but you could check back over her old posts. Her garden is gorgeous and she uses height too as I don't think it's a huge space. @amberspy, tidy garden! Very nice.
At least you didnt take "oh fence" (haha geddit!)Goodie, you could make a reasonable and very hard wearing fence from palletts, get a similar look to Ambers which by the way is absolutely gorgeous, I also love re-cycling, you could use the pallets to make your raised beds, somewhere on here, the amazing, clever beautiful thing people have made from them, including bed and coffee tables, even a shed. Your shed looks in much better nick than ours, which was rotten when we moved here nearly 7 years ago. I would say, if you deffo dont want it, as it is, you could use the good parts to make one the size you really need. Be away, it is ALWAYS much bigger than you think, (we now have 2 sheds, upsized one, other awaiting, yup the rotten one!) 3 greenhouses. You could go "up" shed fences etc. herbs, toms, strawberries, wall, hanging planters. check out "freecycle". Wilko,Aldi if you have them, find a garden club, swap. Sainsbury do packets of seeds pretty cheap. I would get rid of the shed first or shrink it, because it will be the devils own job, getting rid of the beast, once you have you raised beds. You will have to find a shadyier spot for the acers, they are woodland plants, as you are south facing. what about putting some wildflowers in the lawn, save you mowing it so often would look very pretty, not so prescioui with the kids, who are going to ruin it, once they start running around, trikes footballs. Climbers, honeysuckly poisonous, wouldnt have that, there are so lovelly clematis, and clibing roses that are thronless, ket us up to date with the pics.
