Planting and pruning hydrangea

I have a lovely soft pink hydrangea, which has grown in a large pot for about three years. However, I think now is the time to put it in the ground. I have left the old flower heads on so I know where to prune. My question is if the weather forecast is correct then we could be in for another very cold snap, so should I get it in the ground ahead of cold weather, or leave it well alone until the weather really warms up?

If you have been growing the potted Hydrangeas in outdoor conditions, it shouldn't be an issue even if a cold snap is forecast later on. Waiting till spring is fine too. Try to keep the top growth for now, since it is only mid February. Make sure the soil is well prepared, and if the plant is root-bound, make sure you tease them out to help them along.
