New gardener

Hello,

I am a new gardener and have just acquired an allotment. After digging today I found lots of these (picture attached) in the ground. They were quite difficult to get up as their roots spread out quite a bit.

Just wondered if anyone knew what they could be?

Thanks,

James

    Artichoke or asparagus?

I'd say asparagus if they were planted with the roots spread out

  • Yep, asparagus for me too.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thank you everyone,

I think you've hit the nail on the head with Asparagus :)
