Rose feed
in Plants
I planted my new roses in the Autumn and used the David Austin fungi stuff for the roots. Do I need to feed in the Spring as well?

Some people feed around late spring to help it along, but I personally think that a good thick layer or compost every year or well rotted manure is enough. If your soil has not been worked on previously, then work in a new layer of compost or manure every spring if you have clay soil, or anytime of the year for other soil types.
It is clay soil with fresh top soil and some compost was mixed with the mycorrhizal fungi stuff when roses where planted. Can't use manure, have a puppy who will see it as a delicacy.
I give mine a 4" mulch of rotted manure in the autumn.
I also give them a very small handfull of Toprose mid-March and again after the first flush - probably not needed, but it's become a habit over the years - not one of my worst I'm pleased to say
My dog has a sniff and a scrape at the manure, but doesn't eat much - and no damage done in the 17 yrs I've had dogs

My dog didn't eat manure or dig it. I give my roses a feed in March with rose fertiliser and another feed after the first flowering.
