dracaena marginata problem

Hi i have been trying to get my plant healthy again but it just keeps getting progressively worse, the lower leaves all just fell off, and the leaves keep browning, and i keep trimming them, i re-potted the plant.

I mist the leaves daily and water weekly.

Am i at a lost cause?!

  • It sounds to me as if it's much too moist ... it shouldn't need much watering in the winter as it's not growing.  Falling leaves are usually a sign of over-watering.  Let the soil dry out quite a bit between waterings .

Totally agree with Dove ; inducement of a winter resting period is essential for plants like these .

Low light levels , overwatering and a centrally heated room are not an idyllic combination of factors .

Keep in as bright a situation as you can provide and away from radiators . Refrain from watering at least until the compost is practically dry .

If you've a conservatory or access to a greenhouse you'll be surprised the difference in manner of growth .

In summer Dracaenas can be stood outdoors in a bright position , but remember to acclimatise gradually otherwise it will scorch very badly .

    Good luck !
