  • This is a Castor Oil Ricinus, they are not hardy, but luckily each flower produces 50 or so beans (seeds).  I would say that your false castor oil plant looks healthy - we have had one in the same position under trees for 40+ years.

    I coppiced my two fatsia last spring when we moved n as they were over 6ft tall and was casting too much shade in the garden. The idea was to get rid of it. Never the less they have come back and look quite pretty. The leaves were a bit burned and droopy coming out of the winter but they are starting to perk up. 

    GD that’s a nice plant. Is it a NZ purple?Also how tall does it grow in your garden?
