Climbing plants in Scotland

I think you may be struggling to cover even a fraction of that amount of fencing by growing climbers in the pots you can buy. I think maybe think about getting a joiner to make you some long deep wooden decorative troughs to go on the ground alongside the fence. That will give your plants much more root room and therefore more growing energy to cover more fence. At the moment it all looks very stark and I assume from the fact that you have paved it all that you are not interested in gardening very much. The bigger troughs will need a lot less looking after as well. .

  • I suggest some big troughs too. You see shiny bars with huge stainless steel looking ones that might go well without the surroundings.

  • Hogweed  / glasgowdan. ..... I've literally just come I  from making a long planter.... and read yiur messages.

I only want a climber on o e part of the fence..... I will be putti g lights and possibly baskets etc on the other fences as well as pots.

I plan to get a builder to make a raised bed in the unfinished corner that has seating as part of the planter too.
