Seedling help

Hello.

I purchased a packet of pyracantha coccinea seeds a few months ago. I followed the instructions and left them in a loosely sealed bag covered with some compost for 12 weeks. During this time, some of the seeds germinated.

I had around 800 seeds so rather than picking them out of the compost and individually planting into cells I split the seed/compost mixture between 6 large seed trays and covered with a few millimeters of compost.

I think this may have been a mistake. I am worried that as the seedlings grow, the roots will become entangled and I will not be able to separate them.

Should I:

Leave the seedlings in the current seed tray

Carefully replant the seeds that have germinated into separate  cells

Pick all of the seeds out of the compost and replant into cells

Prepare for the worst and buy some more seed!

I have attached a picture of one of the trays. Thanks in advance for your help

I've always found in nature that when plants produce abundant large quantities of seed/fruit , the strong always dominate and subjugate the weak . Smaller seedlings succumb and the strong take over .

Personally I would not disturb your seed trays ; let whatever survives grow , carefully prise out the larger plants and pot those individually , and discard the 'defeated' .
