Following on from the question about burning garden waste, in a bid to cut it down slightly, has anyone else used “Evergreen No Rake Moss killer”, applied It in dry spell followed by decent rain but, two weeks later not seeing much happening tbh.
    cheers

Hi Kenny - couple of things. Heathers need good drainage, so be aware of that when you pick the spots to plant. The stuff on hills is well adapted to the conditions it grows in, but the cultivated varieties are a bit more 'fussy'.
I'd invest in a shredder [perfect for woody bits and pieces] and make  some compost bins. You'll probably have loads of material, and it would be much healthier and environmentally friendly to compost it. It'll provide you with useful compost for plants, or for using as a mulch  :)
If you do a deck, only build it in the south facing areas. It gets very slippy in shade.
Any grass feeds will be struggling to be effective just now - too dry, even up here! You may find that moss killer will result in you having very little grass left once it does take effect   ;) We had a large 'rough' area in a previous garden , and I gave up using weed and feed products, and we just mowed it. It was too much work to try and make it into a 'lawn'. We concentrated on keeping the bit in front, and to the side of, the house in better nick.
Are you farther north than Fort Bill? It's even been incredibly hot and dry in the far north, right across to the east of the country.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
