Background Music
I've just watched the Alan Tichmarsh thing about orchids and there was background music -why?I can understand the reason for background music in the silent film era but why now?
Don't get me started (actually, you can if you like) on canned laughter

I watch a lot of things on Youtube. You can always tell something that was made for TV by the din in the back (occasionally fore) ground. I hate it.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Nowhere seems to be free of the infernal din of background music ; the demonic cacophany of so-called Radio ASDA on a Saturday morning shopping . Once visited , never again .
Called in at Greggs for a baguette and a coffee on the same day ; the inevitable speaker grinding out some moronic nonsense purporting to be music .
B3, please enlighten me, what does PITA mean? If it's not too rude.
OK, no reply needed, the penny just dropped.
I wonder how much money the BBC would save if they got rid of background music and sacked the man who presses the BWAAhahahaha button.
Paul B3, shop in Waitrose. No music there.
Background music, canned laughter and now we have the hideous " spontaneous show of appreciation" or endless hooting and cheering and whistling. "Strictly" " X factor" being the perfect examples of that latest import from usa.
Have you noticed the appalling noise that “people” make, usually on sports shows. So aggressive
I am not a golfer but oh is and I can’t get over the shouts of ”in the hole , in the hole” I mean, what is the point?!

A A Milne
I'd have to say I've never watched a sports show. I've seen clips of stuff like the Olympics on news programmes where high jumpers get the crowd to clap before they jump and now athletes seem to have to have pyrotechnics as arrive arrive in the arena.
