Tertrill, the garden weeder robot

Tertill is a solar powered weeding robot for home gardens. See it in operation on YouTube at https://youtu.be/VwTWhMbnq9g
IMHO this is a totally useless gadget.

I have to agree with you Papi Jo ... a gardener would never have invented that
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Lots of weeds are more than an inch high.........useless gadget.
I'll stick with my hoe. That's essentially what this bit of tat is doing, isn't it?
"Robots do not hold on to life. They can't. They have nothing to hold on with - no soul, no instinct. Grass has more will to live than they do."
Karel Čapek
If the weed is only an inch or so high it's often too soon to tell if it's a planned or a surprise treasure that's coming back or has self sown or an unwanted weed. I've also never had space, especially in straight lines, for a robot to trundle around between treasures on the basis that covered soil grows fewer weeds.
This is a tool for non gardeners.
that's hilarious. Bumbling around, crashing into plants, whipping off precious seedlings. If I wanted that done I'd get a dog.

Sorry Papi Jo
.
Blame Arnold Schwarzenegger, Skynet and my overactive imagination for the bad joke
.
OH has pointed out that we already have the muntjac, we won't need the dog.

Very clever robot that can differentiate between weed seedlings and seedlings of self sown plants we want to keep.
"Because weeding sucks, you should make a robot do it." OMG thank you for making me laugh on such a cold wintery day.
I love weeding, plus they obviously don't have bindweed or ground elder in the USA, can you imagine that being cut and spread around your garden. Brilliant. I'm going to be chuckling to myself all afternoon.
Happy Friday all x
