Its best to apply using a hand spreader / larger spread pending on size of lawn, most drop spreaders are naff and you will end up scorching the lawn.

Evergreen 4 in 1 and Westland I would of thought were the most commonly used. I don't use a lawn use these cause they don't always see off the weeds and I don't want to get any on my plants, but they still work reasonably well, very good for greening the lawn up. I currently using Ivisons lawn feed and a hand spray lawn weed killer.

I start the spring/summer in March or April pending on weather conditions but it depends where you live could be later or earlier. I will feed again in about 8 weeks or more. I live in Lancashire on the hills

I've always found the different brands to be pretty much of a muchness.  I would apply after the lawn has had it's first couple of mows in the spring ... wait until you're clear of frosty weather ... apply exactly as directed on the pack ... I weigh out the amount per square metre into a plastic cup and mark the level ... then I mark out the lawn into metre squares with canes and string ... it's important not to overdose as you'll end up killing the grass.

If the instructions say that it needs to be watered in, don't forget to do that.  I try to apply mine just before a decent rain shower image

If patches of the lawn turn black don't panic ... it'll be the moss and weeds turning dying ... as long as you didn't overdose it and remembered to water it in the grass will be fine .......... but it always looks worse before it looks better.

    Hope that helps image

  • The lawn experts will tell you best to do separately as it's easier to be accurate. Use a liquid lawn weedkiller. Let it work then feed. Wait for growing season depending on local conditions Mid - late March at the earliest. If you must use combined make sure soil is and remains moist at all times be careful not to over apply as it's easy to scorch grass .
