Privet hedge issue

Hi

We planted some privet hedge at the front of our house 3 years ago and it had been flourishing but for some reason a couple of weeks ago one section of the hedge has been losing leaves (see photos).

The foundations in both sections of hedging are pretty much the same and they would get a similar amount of sunlight and plant food so not sure what the issue is.

Would anyone be able to tell from the photos if they think the hedge is still salvageable- and if so if they have any recommendations of how to get it back healthy again?

It's probably the effect of winter ... although privet is usually thought of as evergreen, it's really semi-evergreen and will sometimes drop leaves in cold spells.

I'd give it a trim in late February and feed it with some Fish, Blood and Bone (according to the directions on the pack).  My guess is that it'll soon green up and look just fine by the summer.

You might like to just try a bit of bonemeal or FB&B in one place first as I have heard that some dogs and/or foxes go mad for it!

Dove is right. Frost can sometimes cause it to loose it’s leaves. Don’t worry.
