I suspect that if you want really dark hued flowers then part shade is the way to go. I will try Mercury R and Tetra next year in more shade and see what happens.

Since I bought my house two summers ago, I've occasionally noticed these flowers appearing in the corner of my patio.  They've reappeared over the last few days which reminded me to track down an identification. Seems like it's a hardy cyclamen flowering earlier than usual.

Cyclamen Hederifolium.  Mine are flowering too.

Like your cyclamen, the ants have spread the seeds and I have more of the corms in the stone chips than under the shrub where they were planted.

  • Such a simple flower, but I'm loving the looks of these Cosmos at the moment...

The colour hasn't been enhanced in any way.

  • The goes for my Orange Kelos... It's this vibrant naturally, especially so after a bit of rain!

Love Cosmos as, like you say @RaspberryKiller, it’s simple but brings cheer to the garden (and the bees).
My garden and I live in South Wales.
