Garden Fleece and plastic

I have been told that garden / horticultural fleece contains plastic, as do teabags (which you will know if you've tried to compost them). Does anyone know if this is correct, and if it is, does anyone know a source for non-plastic-containing fleece?

Fleece now is made from polypropylene, don’t know about tea bags, they don’t rot down on my compost heap as I have such a quick turnover so I empty out the tea or buy loose tea which unfortunately are both in plastic bags. You can’t get away from it whatever you do.

  • It's the polypropylene that I am trying to avoid, but so far not found fleece without it.

I no longer use teabags (though for those that do, and want fully recyclable bags and packaging, Teapigs are OK, but pricy); there are a couple of fairly local shops that sell loose tea to go into customers' own containers, but generally these are few and far between. Small independent shops seem to be the best bet for a choice of loose tea, though hopefully the supermarkets will start to stock more again, preferably in fully-recyclable packaging. We have to be realistic - most people are not likely to take their own containers to buy loose tea, so it's important that the large retailers change their packaging. I sometimes have to buy tea from supermarkets when I'm not going to the two towns where I can buy the tea loose, but I include the plastic inners of loose tea packets in the packages of plastic that I Freepost back to the supermarkets.

I'm starting to be a little optimistic that the message about unnecessary plastic use is getting through to more people at last.

Ooh Les Wilkins how do you arrange freeposting of plastic back to supermarkets? A great idea

Try 100% natural burlap if you can source it

Wool fleece. This one for example: https://www.gardenista.com/products/sheeps-wool-frost-protection-fleece/

And yes, there is plastic even in teabags.

Thanks Fire Lily - w as looking for  something like this, but not always easy to find in Google searches. I expect it will last for ages as well
