Jeyes Fluid as Mole Deterrent
I have several Silver Birch and Red Robin bordering the fence at the bottom of my garden, the moles (coming from adjacent fields) are tunnelling all around the roots and coming several metres into the garden, popping up in the lawn, all over the place. I have been told that about half a teaspoon of neat Jeyes Fluid poured several inches below the surface of the mole hills, will deter the moles. (I really do not want to trap nor kill the moles and do not want to kill the trees and shrubs)
Can anyone tell me - 1. What is safe distance away from the tree and shrub roots to do the above without damaging the roots? Will the mole tunnels damage the roots of the trees? Does anyone have any better ideas?

Pansy is right. Jeyes is dreadful stuff to pour onto living things. I have had trouble with moles and there are only two realistic options. One is to have them trapped by someone who knows how to do it and the other is to put up with them. The tunnelling may kill the trees and other plants by breaking or exposing roots and they will certainly damage grass areas and cause holes and depressions in the surface. There are many threads on here and other sites demonstrating that you are unlikely to deter the moles but if you do want to try, PLEASE not things like Jeyes or chilli powder.
no.....JUST NO!!!
Jeyes fluid is a cleaning agent for pots/greenhouse glass etc, it is not for use in any other capacity eg. cat scaring, mole scaring, vine weevil killing - its horrible, horrible stuff!!
Thanks for all the info - I will certainly not be using Jeyes Fluid as a deterrent! I would rather keep the moles etc than harm them. (Glad I haven't bought any yet!)
I read that rancid yogurt put in the tunnel will also deter them. I've got a pot stewing on the windowsill to try and see if it works. My neighbour put a childs windmill toy in his grass and there are no moles to be seen, allegedly the moles don't like the noise it makes when its windy. Think I'll try that too
