Which Rosa rugosa hybrids don’t sucker
in Plants
I am planning a Rosa rugosa hedge to border my seaside garden. I want to have flowerbeds in front of it so don’t want to choose ones that don’t sucker, or sucker as little as possible. I have read that hybrids should sucker less but most still sucker. I would like highly scented ones with large flowers. I have been looking at Hansa (rhs says it suckers), rosariae de l’hay (seems enormous) , blanc double de Coinert or wondered about smaller options like a mix of scabrosa Andy Sarah van fleet. Advice much appreciated.

I have never met a rosa rugosa that doesn't sucker, whether in my garden, friends' gardens or municipal plantings.
Have just read this, it’s an American article but the Roses mentioned are available in the uk.
