    Spot on Dove.

Think how many cabbages and lettuces you will eat in a week and don’t sow too many, best to sow a few lettuce seeds each week.  How many are in your family, how many children, you get loads of tomatoes on one plant, so work out how many you will need and sow accordingly.

The main thing is to remember that all those little seedling will grow very big And you need somewhere to keep them in until they can be planted out.

If you put the tomatoes in pots, they will need a 10 inch pot at least to one plant, it can get very expensive buying compost, so only sow what you need, with a couple of spares for emergencies, should one die.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
