muddy slippery lawn

Hi, I have to walk across our back lawn to get to our bird feeders. I do this a lot with the weather being very cold at the moment the little darlings seem to live there, which is great I love them and Big Garden Bird Watch is comingimage. My problem is with all the rain we have had and all this going back and forth I have created a muddy, slippery path across it which is getting decidedly dangerous. I can't move the feeders anywhere else.

Any ideas?image

For a temporary solution you could try one of the rubber matting products often used for high wear areas on golf courses, parks etc. They can be fixed into position with stakes. They have an open structure to allow grass to grown through or can be filled with small grade shingle. Not particularly cheap but there are various types - light / medium / heavy duty etc. They also come in 'tile' format that can be clicked together.

Or you could install a permanent path or stepping stones maybe.

I have some of these rubber doormats.I got mine from Morrisons for under £3 each.

Use them if a path is icy or indeed across a muddy lawn!

  • Thanks guy'simage. I think I might try the mats .My husband thinks the golf course ones sound great, but I'd have to wait for him to do it,bless him. So while I wait I think I'll try the Morrison's approach. Any other thoughts will be welcome. We have got stepping stones with this in mind but the mud has beaten them.

    Thanks Carolimage
