Which weeping crab apple?
in Plants
There is a gap in my orchard. I could fit a full size one in there but would rather have 3m maximum 2.5m ideal. I’m prepared to pay a bit for one because I have some young apple trees that will probably fruit this year and I don’t want to have one whip in amongst them. which poses a second question - pruned and shaped or top grafted?

Have a look at this one:

I actually went out and looked at trees in real life today, trip report is that royal beauty is gorgeous but the way it’s branches trail on the ground is asking for trouble/my dogs to jump up and bite at it if pruned off the ground.
Louisa was also lovely and I’m seriously thinking about getting one for a planter, but I fell in love with https://www.primrose.co.uk/malus-sun-rival-sun-rival-crab-apple-bare-root-p-103233.html sun rival. I’m going to pot that up in a really nice planter and when when it’s bigger move it on to the garden. I know my rootstocks and that will be mm111, which isn’t what most people will want as it really really won’t like planters when it gets older. Hence the price.
