Acer bloodgood transplanting
Hi i have a largish acer bloodgood that I planted 2 years ago in completely the wrong place south facing in full sun, its a beautiful specimen in spring but once the summer comes the leaves get really burnt I would like to move it to a more shady part of the garden do you think this is viable or would it be better to leave it be

How big is big?
When you don't even know who's in the team
S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
The tree is about 7 ft
It will be hard to move successfully.
Can't be any more helpful I'm afraid.

Ok thanks punkdoc might have to stay where it is my fault should have read up a bit more
if you can move it when its frost free and keep as large of a root ball on it hen you move it then it should move fine,
if its only been in the ground a couple of years the roots hopefully won't be too established
Thanks tree hugger I'll give it a go
Yes do as Treehugger says, move it between now & early March while still dormant when conditions are ok. Put a stake in at an angle to anchor it for the first few years. You might want to try some Rootgrow as well to help it establish. If you have any leafmould use that in the planting hole.
Cheers iain will give it try
