Some conifers do go that colour in the winter but if the needles are falling off then its a goner. No amount of pruning it will save it.  Possibly because it has been too dry in the summer - the top growth and in too little a pot has meant the rain was not getting to the rootball. Wait until the spring................see if it shows any sign of recovery.

Hmmmm....................Platycladus orientalis ; used to be known as Thuja orientalis ;(why the name change)?

Looks like (as hogweed says) too dry at some stage . Don't hold out too much hope .

Looking at the picture again , has someone got the wrong label ?

Looks more like Juniperus or Cryptomeria .

  • Thanks, I will repot it into a much bigger one and hope it can be saved.
