Water scarecrows work well if your garden isn't too big.

They'll go off if there's any movement - so they'll get you, your dog, your kids unless you remember to switch it off before you go outside.

hi thanks for your replys not sure how to connect to mains water supply , dont think we have a out side tap either is there any other way to stop cats from poop in garden thanks
Hi
We've tried everything, lotions potions, barriers, cat scarer sounder thingys etc. We have only had success with sections of chicken wire over the gaps in plants (doesn't look nice though).
We are going to buy the electric fencing that you put around ponds and zigzag it up the border this month.
Hopefully we can run it from mains via a transformer in spring summer autumn when we have dining room window locked open and car batteries in winter. Its the winter that is worse as the ground is bareish, we have replanted so many bulbs and it stinks yuk.
Although we have 6 cats in our near area its only 2 that usually do it so hopefully once they have had a few "pokes" they will learn better of it.
Good luck it is so demoralising

I've just been told that used tea bags with a few drops of tea tree oil deter cats from using your garden as a toilet. I'm going to give it a go!
Hi all, I have problems with cats in my garden too and have taken to sticking the thin plant support sticks in all the empty spaces in my garden. It seems to work but the garden looks a bit messy. I tried all the powders and scarers but they don't work. I will try the tea tree oil and see how it goes.
Hi. They don’t like citrus so any kind of orange peel, lemon peel etc scattered on the soil might help. Also half-filled lemonade bottles laid on their sides apparently work but again don’t look great. Coffee grounds also as they don’t like it on their paws (organic too!). Don’t waste your money on crystals, gel, pellets etc. They don’t work. You Probably only need squirt them once or twice with a hosepipe if you see them coming in your garden and they will get the message (It’s the hiss they don’t like rather than getting wet). I’ve also heard that male urine can do the trick... perhaps leave this one till after dark!

I am also a martyr to a double whammy of cats and foxes. Every gardening session has to begin with a poop pickup and then replanting all the pots and plants they dig up. It's not just bulbs they dig up... big 2L plants, whether it's fresh earth or bark or grit.
It's so demoralising. I've got the super-soaker, lion poo, marble-eyed cat scarer, high pitch audio thing, and a water spray to set up... hopefully one, or a combination of these will do the trick...
