Two thirds of the water needs to be covered with oxygenating plants, I can’t see much in there. Put more in and in the Spring you’ll find the water will clear, if you get blanket weed you can twiddle it out with a stick and put it on your compost heap.

Have you got a beach/shallow end for any newts or tadpoles  to get out onto, or an unsuspecting hedghog to climb out on.

its  not really deep enough for fish, as Hosta says.

I bought all my oxy plants from eBay, quite cheap and that is really the answer to green water. No need for chemicals, it will happen naturally

. most water lilies like deep, still water so you may not get the best out of it. Cut the dead leaves off so they don’t stagnate in the water.

One thing:  lily plants hate disturbed water, so no fountains or suchlike.  Someone may have mentioned it up-thread; if so I apologize.

No, but I agree.  Still water for lily pads.   Also, minimum 60cm depth for stable water temps in the UK so I suspect 40cm on Oz will get hot enough to poach the fish.

Nanny - experts such as the RHS and others, all advise that lily leaves being splashed by water fountains can lead to the leaves stomata being blocked and the plants suffocating.   Maybe yours have enough leaves to cope or the water isn't actually splashing them very much.
