Storing carrots.

I store both potatoes and onions in canvas type bags in my cold garage. Can I do the same with carrots?
Don't grow my own (no space) but do buy large bags from the supermarket and usually store (prepared) in the freezer, but this takes up space,so just wondering if canvas (or something else) in the cold garage would be OK.

My brother is a large (in every sense of the word
) carrot farmer ... he also grows onions, potatoes, parsnips etc
a dry frost free but cold garage is fine for storing carrots. It's where I store them when I'm given a 'bulk' supply
The rest of the bulk veg go in the garage too.
Do make sure they're dry tho'

Thanks!
Shall give my carrots a bit of a dry off and then store!
Just wondering do the carrots need to be kept in the dark (like potatoes) or would a string or net bag be OK?
Darkness isn't as vital for carrots as it is for potatoes, but they will keep better for longer in the dark. A brown paper or hessian sack is ideal.

Thanks again.
I keep my potatoes and onions in those commercially available drawstring bags and they work very well, will look for something similar
Quite right Mike ... potatoes should not be stored in the fridge or subjected to very low temperatures for the reason you've given.
However carrots can take lower temperatures and are fine in the salad drawer of a fridge, but it's an unnecessary use of precious fridge space if you have somewhere else cool, dark and dry for them.
