Victoria Plum Tree

This year I've had no blossom & dead leaves on my plum tree. Some of the branches looked dead so in October I pruned the tree right back.  Now there is a purple fungus growing up the trunk & along the branches.  What is the matter with it? Can you help please?

  • I'm sorry ... it sounds to me as if it's dead or dying and the fungus is feeding on the rotting wood.

I don't think there's anything you can do to save it.

But for a gardener every cloud has a silver lining ... a dead tree is a new planting opportunity ... image

  • Could be Silver Leaf disease - Victoria Plums are very susceptible.
