I have never knowingly had trouble with vine weevils tho I did buy a bottle of provado just in case when I started buying heucheras by the barrow load cos of the lovely foliage colours. Unfortunately they succumbed to cold, wet Belgian winters before any weevils got near.
After several years trying- or even several trying years - I gave up on heucheras.
In your circumstances Berghill, I'd be inclined to give yup on anything that is attractive to vine weevils since you have a ready supply of fresh adults and therefore fresh weevils all around you. Maybe more important things to do like sorting and packing house stuff and selecting healthy plants to take with you?
