Brushwood mulching blade

hi I've just got myself a new single brushwood mulching blade for my strimmer, I was going to attach it with the ends facing up as not to dig into the ground when in use, but as you can see in the photo my tree surgeon friend uses his with the ends of the blade facing down to the ground, can someone tell us who's right and who's wrong.
