Large oak tree leaves

Some 12 months ago we had a large oak tree in our garden seriously pruned.

Now that the season's leaves are falling, we have noticed that some of the leaves, rather than being the usual 8cm in length are around 22cm long.

Is this as a result of the pruning as the energy of the tree growth is going into fewer leaves, or is it due to the unseasonal weather we have experienced this last year?

We live some 15 miles NW of London and I apologise for the somewhat non-technical description of the issue!

    No experience of cutting oak hard but many plants grow bigger leaves if hard pruned

    I’d like to see a photo of the 8” long oak leaf please.

    Maybe it is an american oak; they have big leaves.

    Many trees make far larger leaves than usual the first year after pruning - catalpa is a prime example - so maybe this oak is just doing the same thing and maximising leaf surface to increase photosynthesis potential for feeding itself.
