Counter Clematis

* NO IDEA WHY THIS THREAD HAS BEEN CALLED COUNTER CLEMATIS, SHOULD JUST BE CLEMATIS LOL*

Hello,

I’ve has this evergreen winter clematis growing against my Shed for just under 3 years now and it usually turns brown in parts to rid itself of leaves then produces fresh ones. However over the past week it seems the foliage on the majority of the plant is turning brown in a much vaster amount than previously. I was just wondering if this is normal or if it’s caught a disease? I’ve had a look and it seems okay at the roots.

Many thanks,

  • I'd leave it alone for now ... if it is frost/wind damage at least the dead leaves will protect any shoots beneath them.  If it doesn't recover by next summer then it's more than cold damage.
