  It's very hard to kill a forsythia !! I would do the trimming now while you can see the structure with the leaves off.

  Thanks all for the advice - am under the weather with an awful cold at the moment, so when that alleviates I'll take Hogweed's advice and have a go.

  I'll have a try at reducing the size of the photos and upload.
