Tomato and Cucumbers stems are thining in the middle - Diagnosis help!

Two of my potted plants appear to be struggling after repotting.

The Lebanese cucumber was laying on the soil - by venturing beneath the soil the stem looked like it had thinned out in the middle a little.

A similar thing happened with a Peron tomato which appears to be taking a hard right angle.

1.Any diagnosis? Did we make some mistakes while re-potting?

2. Any way to save either of these babies?

Time and responses arimageimagee appreciated.

As soon as I saw that tomato I thought damping off. Fungal infection, usually happens when too wet, or too cold and wet.

I'm afraid you will have to throw the plants and compost away, not in the compost heap.

Funny time of year to be growing tomatoes, where do you live?

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
