Swapping a Ribes with a Rose
Conundrum: I want to move a Ribes to a new space and put a rose where the Ribes was. But if I move the rose when it is dormant, next month, the Ribes will have new spring buds emerging (they are already there). Both plants are about 4 ft high. I will prune the rose but can't prune the Ribes as it will lose its spring flowers. Can I move both now. If I wait till after the ribes has flowered the rose will no longer be dormant. Any advice please.

I'd do it now ... the rose may not be totally dormant but it's not in active growth at this time of year ... I don't think it'll do it any harm as long as the site is well prepared so it settles in comfortably.
