A walk on the wild side

  • Yes, you are right Silver S. I think between you all, all the plants were named and I managed to name the island of Jethou - the easiest for me! Thanks to you all.  We have a huge wealth of wild plants growing here, mostly classed as weeds, but fascinating and interesting, some are quite beautiful too, and it is surprising just how many insects make their homes in an around these "weeds" or feed off them.

  • A walk of sorts today.  The weather was dull, calm, and dry, certainly not cold.  We didn't go so far, just through some of the nearby lanes, looking at the various new building work, admiring any plants that were in flower and how some trees are still holding their leaves, and yet our leaves have all fallen now.imageThis is what we saw. The first flowering narcissus in our garden, red campion in the lane, a pied wagtail, Butchers broom and a purple flowering plant, what is it?

  • Purple plant is Linaria purpurea.

Amazing to see it in full flower with Narcissus!

  • Thanks Silver surfer.  The vivid coloured flowers really stood out (in our neighbours garden), they don't have many flowers.
