Good pic! I grew all sorts of berried plants for the birds and they only ever ate a few of the hips on the Kiftsgate rose towards the end of winter. Left crab apples and bird cherries and pyracantha completely alone.
In this new garden they stripped every single fig and most of the mirabelle plums, raspberries and edible cherries so we'll plant newer, smaller fruit trees and fresh canes in a fruit cage which will have the netting stretched very tight to avoid trapping birds.
Fat blocks aren't easy to find here for some reason but I did find a huge 2" thick block of their favourite meal worms and fat before Xmas, along with a half price feeder to put it in. Haven't put it out yet as they've just finished the last of the smaller ones.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Papi Jo - spotted in Leclerc yesterday - fat ball holders containing 4, net free fat balls. Worth buying so you can use them again - after taking nets off. They're still selling balls in nets.

Never seen stringless balls here but I keep a pair of scissors next to the tub for removing the netting when filling the feeders.
