I can't make up my mind whether that's a very bedraggled late flowering canna, or the remains of a ginger lily ......... Hosta will know - he grows both and gave me mine ... he may pop into the forum at lunchtime ...................

If you can lift it and store it over the winter somewhere frost free. You should be able to get extra plants from it in Spring.
Look at the tubers in Spring and you'll see red bullet shaped shoots forming. So long as you've got one of those and tuber attached , you'll be fine.
