London Pride Plants
For many years I have had a good bed of London Pride. This year something, I believe birds, have pulled them all up but avoided other plants. I have tried re-planting them in other parts of the garden but they have still been pulled up..Does anyone know the reason for this. There do not seem to be any bugs on them.

Difficult to know remotely, are their any roots on the plants that are "pulled out"? If there are no roots it could be vine weevil eating the roots. We suffered this on our sempervivums that were in pots I thought birds were pulling them out. Replant some in pots in clean compost to regenerate strong growth and replant when established. Check under clumps for white C shaped grubs under where the crown of the plant was.
I find they are only shallow rooting anyway so you have to be careful not to pull them up with other plants. Try some vine weevil nematodes in the spring. They need a soil temperature of about 10C before they work. The birds might just be pulling up the plants to look for vine weevils underneath.
I love mine the little flowers are beautiful.

Thank you for that. I do use nematodes but not on that bed as they have been such good plants and no trouble for a number of year. I will follow your advice. Thank you again.
