Creatures in my garden and compost
I bought 3 bags of compost from my garden centre and haven't got round to using two of them yet so they've been sat on a path. This morning one has been ripped open substantially (looks like small teeth marks) and compost scattered all over the lawn.
We've checked & there's nothing in there - no nuts (squirrels) no faeces and no smell of animal urine.
Anyone had any experience of this happening? We've lived here 39 years and this has never happened before.
I'm hoping it's not rats. We have seen a squirrel in the garden for the first time last week - usually they are up and down the trees on The Green that we face on to. We have also seen and heard foxes on The Green too.

I'd suspect either foxes or gulls. Both are notorious for ripping bin bags and scattering the contents in search of food. They might not recognise the difference between a bin bag and a bag of compost. Best get them under cover, if you haven't already.
Foxes do this to mine.
