They're fairly hardy in a 'normal' winter outdoors ; this obviously depends on how or where the plant was raised , (i.e. in a glasshouse or outside) . If raised under glass , it will be a shock to its system to be suddenly exposed to a possibly harsh winter !
Should you buy the plant now , it may be wise to keep in a sheltered spot for the winter (cold greenhouse)? , if you have one . They aren't growing right now , and planting out in the spring will give it time next year to acclimatise . Plant out of strong cold winds if possible .

PS Be careful though , they have very tough roots for planting near a house
