Mushroom identification

Any mushroom experts out there know what this is?

Started growing from a tree stump in the garden a couple of weeks ago. I'm definitely not planning on eating it. Just curious and wanted to make sure it isn't dangerous for the kids and the dog.

Thanks

Are you sure Edd ?... Hen of the Woods is a polypore and the OP's photo shows gills image

Enlarge the photo and zoom in ... definitely gills.

Treat yourself gently Edd, while you get used to the idea of the possibility ... image

Thanks both. I'll pop out tomorrow and get some close ups  to help solve the pores vs gills conundrum.

I'm glad it's not something toxic & nasty.

    Can you move mushrooms?

Ive got a few dotted around the place, might be nice to have a "fungi pot".

I don't know Edd. Looks a lot like gills to me.

@ Tin Pot ... Not really ... mushrooms are just the fruiting bodies of the mycelium which is spread throughout your soil.

But create the right conditions and the fungi will appear image

Says the person who knows nothing about mushrooms, apart from how to make a half decent risotto.

@ Womble  image   Think Edd is going to have to get used to having been wrong twice image

I think your fungi are a bit mature to identify from a photo, but they could even be large honey fungus mushrooms ... there are various strains/forms and some can get quite big
