Permaculture
Hi every one I am a horticulturist/ perm culturist.
I love working with soil, using natural plant nutrients to enhance soil, I often hear people talk about using fungicide to kill certain fungi, the big bug bear is the honey fungus.
I believe the fungi grows because certain condition around that tree caused the honey fungus to exist.ie rot in the wood. It would be best to look at what could be done to allow the tree stronger growth in order to combat the attack on the tree.
By the way I love the idea of aqua ponic, but I do love what Monti Don said about soil last Friday. Thumbs up to you Monty

When anyone asks about the best thing in my well stocked garden , my response is "the soil" ; I'm lucky enough to have a well-draining pH neutral , rich loam . Our house was constructed in the 1920s , and apparently built (according to locals) , on the site of old apple-orchards, and has never been ploughed to deteriorate the structure of the soil .
Compared to some gardens (i.e. new-builds) , I class myself as very fortunate .
PS In the 1980s I worked at a nursery in N.Yorkshire , where hydroponic cultivation of many plants was the norm .
